The short sequence
Bring an egg back.
The creator first collects an egg and returns to the plot. See 0:16 in the video.
Check that it is still growing.
The explanation distinguishes eggs waiting in the base from pets that have already hatched. See 0:24–0:39.
Use the consumable on the egg.
The creator describes applying it during that waiting period. Follow the interaction shown by your current game rather than assuming a keyboard shortcut works on every device.
If the item will not work
Check the target before spending more time or tokens: are you looking at an unhatched egg, a hatched pet, or an egg you are still carrying? Then check whether your inventory contains the intended item. These are a practical diagnostic checklist, not a claim that we have reproduced every failure condition.
If the game shows a result message after use, read it before attempting again. An item-use animation alone does not establish that a mutation succeeded.
